A day after Caleb Mutfwang, the governor of Plateau state, dissolved the governing council of the Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, and the heads of state-owned tertiary institutions, including Plateau State University, Mutfwang has appointed acting heads for the respective institutions.
The interim heads include Professor Shedrach Best, vice chancellor of PLASU; Dr. Clement Chirman, Rector of Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi; Professor Lazarus Maigoro, Provost of College of Education, Gindiri; Dr. Jonathan Bulus, Provost of College of Health Technology, Zawan; and Dr. Markus Avong, Provost of College of Health Technology, Pankshin.
In a statement by Samuel Jatau, the Secretary of the Plateau State Government, the new appointees are to resume work with immediate effect. “[They are] required to swing into action by looking into…the sources of income and expenditure of the school,” Jatau said. It remains unclear if this directive is aimed at investigating the financial records of the previous heads, who were appointed during the previous administration.
